This Sunday Sunshine George Cross face Kingston City at Chaplin Reserve at 3.00PM in Round 14 of the Vodafone Cup.
The halfway point of the season has been reached with Kingston sitting second on the League table. Kingston have only lost two games this season and look set to challenge strongly for the championship. The Georgies are currently in good form and if this form continues a relegation battle similar to last season should be avoided.
In Round 13 Sunshine George Cross dominated play against Fawkner-Whittlesea to run out convincing 3-1 winners at Chaplin Reserve. Fidell Richards again found the back of the net following his hat-trick the previous week against Heidelberg to now head the Georgie Top Scorer's list. Mark Draycott increased his tally to three after scoring a brace.
Kingston also won 3-1 in Round 13 against the Melbourne Knights at Somers Street. Michael Curcija scored two and is now equal League Top Scorer along with Altona Magic's Saso Becvinovski on 10 goals. Kingston's other goal sneak Joe Spiteri has 7 goals for the season.
In Round 1 at the Grange, Kingston emerged victorious 1-0 against a Georgie side reduced to ten men. The winner came courtesy of a Michael Curcija penalty.
In the seven games that Joe Montemurro has been in charge of Georgie the win/loss ratio is as follows: Won 3,Lost 2,Drawn 2.
Kingston have only won twice on the road this season and games lost have been away from home. The Grange is a fortress though as they have won all six games there to date. Kingston's last loss was in Round 8.
In other games: Friday night: Richmond v Essendon. Saturday night: Altona Magic v Fawkner-Whittlesea. Sunday: South Melbourne v Heidelberg and Melbourne Knights v Preston. Monday night: Bulleen v Frankston Pines. Note: Oakleigh v Green Gully postponed.
