A 75th minute goal to Heidelberg's Peter Roberts has condemned Sunshine Georgies to the bottom four for now, leaving them on the brink of relegation to the State League in 2008 with one round to go in the 2007 Foxtel Cup, as the Bergers defeated the Georgies 1-0 away at Chaplin Reserve.

The Georgies are in a desperate situation having to travel to Richmond on the last day knowing that anything short of a win will mean certain relegation.

The match at Chaplin Reserve began at a quick pace with the home team attempting to assert its authority to take the initiative in seeking a crucial goal early in the game to ease the nerves.

However it seemed from the outset that this would not be a high scoring match as Heidelberg were content to keep posession in the midfield knowing at least a draw was a sufficient result on the day. With the Georgies determined to win, this resulted in a first half which was very high paced. The first real chance of the game came to playing coach John

Markovski with a turning header on goal in the 10th minute.

It was at the other end where the Bergers Sebastian Petrovich was causing havoc for the Georgies defence with no less than 3 golden chances to give the visitors the lead, but the opportunites went begging in in the 22nd, 25th and 28th minutes much to Petrovich's frustration. Shortly after a freekick by Nick Sabljak from distance thundered off the cross bar and out for a goal kick to maintain the forward pressure from the visitors.

These early chances to Heidelberg ensured the match would be tight but the quick pace of the game early petered out to a slower battle of posession towards the end of the first half.

The second stanza began in the same blistering fashion of the first, and the home team had a great opportunity score as Georgies midfielder Nick Kalmar found himself on the end of some great build up play in the area but his side foot flick was cleared within the 6 yard box by the Bergers defence for a corner. From the resulting corner the Georgies laid seige to the Bergers net for the next 3 minutes culminating in on-loan Goran Talevski smashing a close range strike from the bi-line on to the outside of the upright.

Then on the hour mark, the Bergers Andy Vlahos was through one on one on goal after a mix up in the Sunshine defence but his toe poke strike could only rebound off the base of the post, leaving the Georgies

breathing a sigh of relief.

The failed attempt would only be the signal for some more sustained attack from Heidelberg which paid dividends in the 75th minute. After a scramble in the area the ball was only half cleared to Roberts at the top of the penalty area volleying the football through traffic and into the net to give the Bergers the lead.

This paved the way for a desperate final quarter hour as the tiring Georgies extracted every last ounce of energy to press the Bergers defence. The home team was extremely unlucky to not find the equaliser as Dusko Delic who was put through in the six yard box by Markovski only for Heidelberg keeper Peter Gavalas to make a desperate save at his feet. A series of 5 corners could only result in further near misses to the Georgies, in particlar an over head kick by Alfonso Opazo from close range sailing over the cross bar.

To add further pain to the defeat, the Georgies had Kalmar sent off for second yellow card deep in stoppage time and keeper Martin John was shown a straight red for exchanging one too many words at the referee after the final whistle.
