After this very important win over second placed Heidelberg United, Sunshine George Cross has all but sealed their future in the Victorian Premier League for 2007. The goal that settled the issue came after 33 minutes when Vasko Trpcevski blasted the ball home from 25 metres. It was a goal that sent the Georgie faithful into raptures as they saw their team continue to pull away from the danger zone with their second consecutive win.

SUNSHINE GEORGE CROSS 1 ( TRPCEVSKI 33' )

 HEIDELBERG UNITED 0

Youngsters Jonathon Falzon and Fahed Alghazaly were included in the starting line up after their great performances against Green Gully, and once again the young lads played an important role in the team's victory. After a quiet and even open half hour it the was home team who got on top after taking control in midfield.
Captain Manny Muscat was menacing with his work on the left and Brett Gilmour once again stood out with a masterly display. The Georgies defence was in complete control with creative passing. Heidelberg's defence was continuously giving away free kicks and fortunately for them referee Hakan Anaz was not in a yellow card frame of mind. He did however show Gilmour a yellow card for his first foul much to the disgust of the Georgie fans. The Cross should have gone into the half time break two goals ahead, when a precise Vasco Trpcevski pass found the head of Fahed Alghazaly. Unfortunately for the youngster his header went just past the upright.
Within a minute of the restart, Mark Draycott had golden opportunity to make it 2-0, when he was fortunately set up by an Arhtur Tsirtsakis goal attempt. With only the keeper to beat Draycott dragged his shot past the post. One Minute later Jonathon Falzon saw his header hit the side netting after another inch perfect pass from Trpcevski. The game heated up and was up for grabs with both sides getting their fair share to attack. Sebastian Petrovic did the hard work for Heidelberg but his shot at goal left Martin John with no work to do.
Sunshine striker Mark Draycott was next to go in the referee's book after his late tackle on Daniel Jones. Tiny youngster Jonathon Falzon won the admiration of every Georgie fan with his non stop work rate and never say die attitude. He never stopped running all day long and this youngster has a heart bigger than his frame. Central defender Daniel Rocco sent a shiver through the Georgie camp when he was needlessly caught in possession just outside the 18 yard box. The quick and eager Bergers strikers quickly closed him down, but fortunately for Rocco, team mates Colin Azzopardi and Isyan Erdogan spared his blushes.
Tough Heidelberg midfielder Tony Ouliaris was next to see yellow after saying a word too many to the referee. A few minutes later Ouliaris had the great opportunity to draw his side level when his close range header went just wide. In between time Mark Draycott also produced a superb effort with a long range curling shot that beat Acevski as well the post. The Georgies continually looked dangerous going forward but failed to deliver a killer pass from a number of opportunities. Heidelberg almost rescued a point after 80 minutes when the talented Yusef Yusef cut inside and produced a shot that bounced back into play after hitting the cross bar.
The Bergers chances of rescuing a point went 3 minutes later when tough defender Daniel Jones manhandled Mark Draycott in front of the referee and was red carded. The Georgies had good chances in the closing stages with shots by Eduardo Soares and Fahed Alghazaly being blocked close to goal, while Manny Muscat almost added a second only to be denied by a brilliant save from Acevski. The final whistle was greeted with great joy by the Georgie faithful who knew this win would almost certainly ensure the club's 60th anniversary season in 2007, would be in the Premier League once again. The under 21's continued on their winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Heidelberg.
