Round 25 of the Vodafone Cup see the Georgies take on Heidelberg United at home at Chaplin Reserve. When the teams met earleir this season the Georgies finally broke their hoodoo under lights when they ran out victorious 4-1 courtesy of a Fidell Richards hat-trick and a headed goal from Brett Gilmour. This week's clash though will be a much tougher match as the Bergers currently occupy second spot on the VPL ladder.
This week's match could see the Georgies all but guarantee themsleves a place in next season's VPL if they pull off another victory. Both teams are in great form so it should be an entertaining encounter. With the VPL being such a tight affair at both ends of the table this week's round could go a long way to sorting out who will be relegated and who will look forward to finals football in September. Wins for Kingston and Preston will all but cement the top six and at the other end anything less than a win will see Frankston Pines looking forward to life in Division One next year. Other games this week are: Oakleigh vs Bulleen, Altona vs Green Gully, Preston vs Richmond, Knights vs Fawkner/Whittlesea, Sth Melb vs Frankston, Essendon vs Kingston. |
