Sunshine George Cross faces a very difficult game this coming Sunday afternoon when they take on Oakleigh Cannons, in a must win game for the club. There has been many important games in the history of our great club, and this virtual Grand Final for Sunshine George Cross is another that will be added to this list. Nothing, but a win will suffice, and it is going to take a massive effort from every player who takes the field against the Cannons, to ensure that at the end of 90 minutes, our team will be in a better position on the ladder, than at the start of this game. Oakleigh has plenty to play for as well, following their recent slump in form that has jeopardised their chances of making the finals. Over the last 6 weeks, Oakleigh has won only once and lost 5 times. The loss of Nick Kalmar to Melbourne Heart and Cameron Watson to Adelaide United has effected the balance of the team. This week the Blues will also have to do without Scott Webster who was sent off last week against Richmond. Oakleigh is still a powerful unit with Michael Curcija, Ricky Diaco and Jerry Karpeh leading an attack that will provide a stern test for up coming youngster Craig Sweeney, dependable defender Barry Devlin and hard working Douglas Cameron. With both sides having plenty to play for, this game will be an all out attacking affair from the first whistle. The under 21's kick off at 3.00 pm and the senior match kicks off at 5.00pm. |

Peter Koutsoupias made a welcome return to the club this week and could be a surprise inclusion in the squad for the game against Oakleigh. Peter has been unavalaible throughout the season due to work commitments overseas. He has kept his fitness level up and looked sharp at training this week. Peter is best remembered as a great impact player coming on numerous times as a substitute and scoring vital goals. |
