Sunshine Georgies and Altona Magic slogged it out in the worst conditions seen for a long time. Strong winds and the heavy rain fell all through the match turned the Knights Stadium into a water logged pitch. It is a credit to both sides for the effort they put in the trying conditions. Neither side could master the conditions and in the end of a trying 90 minutes both teams had to settle for a share of the points. |

The Committee of Sunshine George Cross pass on their condolences to Club Life Member Mary Azzopardi and her family on the loss of her husband Martin Azzopardi who passed away on Thursday March 4. Martin was 80 years old. Mary (nee Vidal) was the club's first Life Member having been awarded the honour in 1957. The funeral will be held on Friday. More details will be posted when available. May he forever rest in peace. |

 Club officials are making a last minute bid to have new recruit Steven Beck cleared in time for Sunday's game against Altona Magic. It has been very puzzling as to why Steve's clearance has not come through when it was lodged at the same time as those that have been finalised. The clinching of Steven Beck’s signature is Andy O'Dell's prize recruit in his extensive campaign to build a top team. The talented 25-year-old central midfielder is a former England under-16 international who was in the same Everton youth academy side as the great Wayne Rooney. Beck made one appearance for the Everton first team in a friendly against Chester City in July 2002. He joined Welsh Premier League outfit The New Saints in 2003 and has played in the Champions League and UEFA Cup. His last club was Droyslden F.C. where he was one of the leading players at the club.

Members & supporters are welcome to attend our club's 63rd Birthday Celebrations on Friday March 12 at the clubrooms. A free BBQ will be provided and there will be lots of memorabilia to relive some of the golden moments of our great club's history. It is also your chance to come along and meet up with the coaches and our players who will be joining us after training. 1947-2010 and still going strong. |

Sunshine George Cross Junior Tournament fixtures have been drawn and can be viewed in the junior section. The tournament kicks off on Saturday March 13 with the finals in all age groups to be played on Sunday April 11. |

Our club will be hosting the first pre-match President's Luncheon in the round 6 fixture against Northcote City on Sunday April 11. There will be a two course meal and a complimtenary glass of wine for only $20. The club is orgainsing to have some of our favourite former players for this event and we urge your support to make it a success. The luncheon will be from 4.00 till 6.00 pm. There are a lot of important issues on the agenda and we urge every member to attend. The main item on the agenda is the Chaplin Reserve situation. The meeting will commence at 7.00 pm. Bus bookings for the game against Green Gully to be played in Bendigo on Sunday April 25 are now open. The bus will be leaving Chaplin Reserve on Sunday morning at 11.00am and returning to the same venue immediately the match ends. Tickets are $30 per person.
