Sad Passing of Marjorie Tanti

The Sunshine George Cross Committee would like to pass on it's deepest sympathy to Mr Andrew Tanti and Family on the sad passing of his wife Marjorie Tanti who sadly passed away earlier this week.

Marjorie was Club Secretary for Sunshine George Cross in 1997 and 1998 and also was Treasurer until August 2002. 

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Tanti Family at this difficult time.

Seniors Coaching Staff Confirmed 2014

The Club this weekend secured the services of Assistant Coach for the Seniors of Frantz Weiper and Club Physio of David McLean.

Jason Xerri has decided due to work committments to reliniquish his position as Team Manager for 2014.

The club congratulates Frantz and David on their reappointments for 2014.

Under 21's Coach Announced

The Club would like announce the appointment of it's Under 21's Coach for Season 2014 in Con Karagiannidis.

Con for the past 2 years was the Under 21's Assistant Coach for VPL team Oakleigh Cannons FC.  Con has his "C"Licence and is currently completing his "B" Licence.  We trust that Con's knowledge, skills and experience will be among our most valuable assests to the club. 

Con's Career Objectives are to develop  a Club culture were players respect their Team Mates, Coaches and people within the Club, he also would like to emphasis on the importance of teamwork and collective effort in order to achieve objectivies is understood and embraced.  Con beleives he can have an impact to effectively help players improve in their performances. 

We would like to Thank all applicants who submitted their Coaching Applications and Congratulate Con on his appointment.


FFV Release 2014 League Structure

The FFV has released the 2014 League Structure for 2014 (Release 1).  The Junior and Optus SSF Girls League structure will be released on 18th December 2013.

The Mens State League 1 Structure next year has seen Avondale Heights SC, Moreland City SC and Springvale White Eagles SC being promoted to State League Divison 1 from State League Division 2.  Richmond and Southern Stars also are to be part of the State League Divison 1 for 2014 after being relegated after the completetion of the 2013 season.

The Mens State League will commence Round 1 on Saturday 29th March 2014 and will conclude with Round 22 being played on Saturday 20th September 2014.

The Junior competition will commence Round 1 on  Sunday 27th April 2014 and will conclude round 18 on Sunday 14th September 2014.

Seniors Coach Announced for 2014

The Senior Commitee would like to announce the reappointment of Senior Coach Tony Ciantar for the 2014 Season.

Mr Ciantar met with the Senior Committee this week where he was offered the position to Coach the Seniors for the 3rd consecutive year.

Mr Ciantar was looking forward to working with new Committee in the new year.

The committee also met with Reserves Coach Michael Pitchener.  Mr Pitchener decided to withdraw his application for Coaching the Reserves for Sunshine George Cross in 2014.

We wish Michael all the best in his Coaching endeavours in the future and for his services provided to the club.

Interviews are currently being held for the position of Reserves Coach and an announcement will be made in due course.

The Sunshine George Cross Football Club – Juniors would like to express it’s gratitude and thanks to Jason Calleja in selecting our club to receive $5,000 from Hyundai.

To enter you had to capture a photograph or video of a “Grassroots football moment”. A “Grassroots football moment” can be any non-professional men’s or women’s football moment / goal that occur during the Promotional Period, in Australia. This could be from junior or senior local club football, beach football, 6-a-side football, backyard football etc;

All clubs were notified via email late yestereday the Media release the FFV issued to clubs regarding the NPL for 2014. 

Dear Applicants

It is with regret that I  write this email to you today to inform you that unfortunately the NPL will not be introduced in Victoria in 2014. I know that you will be very disappointed with this announcement.
