JUNIORS PRESENTATIONS

The Sunshine George Cross Junior Committee would like to thank all of those who attended the 1st Junior presentation held over the weekend for the Under 5's to Under 11's.  With an attendance of over 590 guests the presentation was a great success.

APPEAL SUCCESSFUL

Sunshine George Cross was successful in their appeal on Wednesday night and will remain in the first division in 2014. The club would like to thank Mr. David Pisani for his well documented case and also the Heidelberg United club for their assistance in the appeal. 
 

PLAYERS ENJOYING BREAK

2013 on the gold coastMost of the players and some fellow committee members are now on the Gold Coast enjoying their end of the season weekend get away. They arrived up there on Thursday morning and will return home on Sunday night. In the meantime it's fun, food and wine as they wind down a great season. Enjoy your trip boys.
 

CLUB IS RELEGATED TO STATE LEAGUE TWO

Sunshine George Cross has been relegated to the State League second division next season, following a lengthy tribunal hearing on Wednesday night. The club has also been fined $2,500. The club was summoned to the tribunal following the melee after the game against Heidelberg United on Sunday 18 August. Sunshine George Cross will lodge an appeal at the harshness of this sentence.

2013 midfield battler joseph franjicThanks to all the players, coaches and supporters of Sunshine George Cross regardless of what happens in the future it was a season I will definitely remember my whole life. Will be tough to take in that we were the best team in the league and will get nothing from it other than Bronze medals in both the league and the state cup. Was great to play under a great manager and with a great bunch of boys, thank you Sunshine George Cross! Joseph Franjic

 

UNDER 21'S WASTEFUL IN DEFEAT

Coach Michael Pichner summed up this match by saying, "We ended the season the same way we started it by missing chances". And no better chances could any team have wished for as the Georgies pinned Werribee City in their own half for long periods, only to be let down by some woeful finishing.

LIONS RELEGATED

North Geelong are to be congratulated on their second half of the season fight back to give themselves a chance to avoid relegation. Eastern Lions, along with Fawkner Blues is now relegated after losing to St. Albans on Saturday, while North Geelong gave themselves a chance of survival by grabbing the 10th play off spot with their injury time win over Moreland Zebras.
 

FIRST AWAY DEFEAT CRUCIAL

Sunshine George Cross suffered their first away defeat of the season going down 1-0 to Werribee Ctiy at Galvin Park on Saturday afternoon. The cut throat play off for the last remaining promotion spot goes to Werribee City with the Georgies finishing third. The game was settled with a goal 30 seconds into the second half with a shot from outside the penalty area that caught the George Cross defence cold.
