p1036030Alex Dimond was full of nerves in the lead up to his first senior match on Saturday, but once he stepped out onto the ground there wasn't a hint of anxiety, as he knuckled down to the job at hand in our backline. The youngster turned 17 only 10 days prior to the big day, but from the start of the match he played as if he had been performing at this level for years.

Alex was told on the Thursday night before the game he was included in the team and right away he adopted a positive attitude and determination of standing his ground and playing well.

After the game Alex felt a huge feeling of relief, but more importantly very happy with the way the boys fought to get the 3 points the team deserved.

He said “the team has been working really hard over the past few weeks and the win was just reward”.

The youngster has been at our club since the age of 11 and it great to see one of our own progressing to the senior team.

We congratulate Alex on his first major step with the seniors and wish him all the best in the future.

Hopefully Georgie fans will continue seeing this talented youngster play many more matches wearing the Red & White George Cross strip.

The following three photos are from Alex's junior days at George Cross.
