BANYULE CITY BULLS 2 GEORGE CROSS 3
The Caroline Springs George Cross Reserves side made hard work for themselves in this encounter with Banyule, but deservedly held on for the win. After dominating the early part of the match, George Cross found themselves behind from one of Banyule's breakaways. The Cross didn’t lose their composure and continued to attack, but indecisiveness and poor choices of passes in front of goals kept the home team in the game. At least five great chances were frittered away before Lewis Merriman equalised before half-time.

The Cross took control of the game in the second half with two quick goals from Ryan Leetch and Clinton Garley, but the Georgies’ defence went AWOL when 3-1 up and nearly paid the price. Banyule’s long ball system caught the Cross defence out repeatedly, but the home team only took advantage on occasion when they pulled a goal back.

The Georgies had to fight hard till the end, but managed to hold on for the win. Great to start the season with a win, but it should have been so much easier.
