Coach Corey Smith: Overall we were good value for the win and showed some very good signs. We also allowed Yarraville back in the game and that’s something we need to address The character of the boys shone through and there were many positives to take from the match. It’s about building something long term, small steps in a way and we've taken another one today. We won’t be resting on our laurels at all, back to training Tuesday ready to work hard again.

Djordje Aleksic: I think we were our own worst enemy. We let them back in the game twice due to lack of concentration, but in saying that we ran over the top of them at the end. We showed we can battle it out, even if it isn’t pretty. This win is huge for us mentally, but we know we can do it, if we have to. We showed we were fitter, stronger and more determined to win and play for the badge.

Rayane Frihi-Luiz:
It was a hard game but the most important thing is the victory. I think we need a bit more time to get to know each other very well and have some automatism. I don’t think we played well in the second half, but it’s just the beginning and we will improve. We just need to play more competitive games I think, but it’s on the way. The team showed some character and that's a good thing.

Daniel Santiago Slovacek: Good to get the win and move onto the next round. I am still a bit sore but I’ll be alright on Sunday. I was wrecked after the match, I haven’t played 120 minutes in ages.
