ryan leetchTwenty-two year-old Ryan Leetch began playing football at the age of 7/8 and slowly progressed through the junior ranks in Northern Ireland. At the age of 13 he got first break when Preston North End gave him an opportunity to trial with the club. It was a great learning experience for the youngster as it provided him with a great insight about being a professional footballer. Ryan returned home to Northern Ireland and joined Dungannon Swifts where helped his team win the Northern Ireland Cup and All Ireland Cup.

Around this age he began impacting the local game and was rewarded when he was called up to represent Northern Ireland in youth international matches. Ryan continued to develop his game and after captaining Dungannon he moved to another Northern Ireland Premier League club Linfield Rangers. Once again this was a successful time for Ryan who was part of the team that won league and cup titles. Ryan then moved to Bangor FC. where he captained the team.

Throughout his career Ryan credits his dad who helped him every step of the way, whether it was being driven to training, or matches and also his valuable one on one advice as requested. Ryan said: “I really have to thank dad for my success so far”.

Ryan arrived in Australia on the 1st of November and a month later he married the love of his life Karina in Hawaii. It has been a hectic period, but in his short time in this country he found time to do a fair bit of research on George Cross F.C. Ryan told us: “I found that this club has a rich history and definitely deserves to be a top flight club and for the season ahead my ambition is to put us back where we belong”.

Coach Corey Smith was pleased to sign Ryan and said: “he is an exciting prospect for us and I am delighted to have secured him. Ryan is a welcome addition to this dynamic young group we are putting together and his personality and professional background will certainly help him become a club favourite.”  Welcome to the Georgies Ryan and have a great season.
