daniel playing for st. albansEver since he can remember Daniel Slovacek has always had a big passion for the game that began when he started kicking a ball around in the backyard of his family home with his elder brother. Coming to George Cross is like returning home for young Daniel who began playing junior football at Sunshine George Cross when he was about 5 years of age. Daniel said "having commenced my playing days at this club it’s great for me to have been given the opportunity to represent the club at a senior level. With the proud history of this football club and the squad we have for next season, I’m hoping we can push for promotion to get straight back into the NPL".

This will be Daniel's sixth season of senior football having spent the last three years at St Albans Saints SC and before that he was at Avondale FC for two years. He has had mixed fortunes in those five years having experienced promotion to NPL twice and relegation once from NPL.

Daniel said "I am hungry for success and I aim to be part of the team to get the club straight back into the National Premier League. George Cross has always been a big club and should be playing in the NPL. I am really looking forward to the new chapter". Daniel Slovacek is sure to play a big part in the push for promotion as he joins the list of several newcomers signed in the off season in preparation for the new season at the new stadium.

Coach Corey Smith said "I have been following Slova for a few seasons and he was a target of mine as soon as I knew he was available. His drive and passion will be instrumental in the new culture we are trying to build within the playing group. Daniel is adaptable and a top level footballer who we are hoping to see big things from now and in the future”.

Welcome to the club Daniel and we hope your stay with us is long, happy and successful.
