TONY CIANTAR: PLAYING YOUTH HAS ITS CHALLENGES

E-mail Print PDF
tony cinatarWe are going through some testing times at the moment with injuries and changes within the playing group. It's during times like these you find out who is here for the right reasons.

I know results are not going our way and like any true George Cross supporter, no one wants to win games more than I do..!!

Unfortunately trying to build a squad with a balance of youth isn't that easy and definitely has its challenges. We must keep this in mind, it is going to take time.

I have taken chances on some players this season that just hasn't worked out and I take full responsibility for it, but I won't be paying players just for the sake of fielding a team and this is why they have walked out.....I would rather give an opportunity to our youngsters, no matter how painful it may be.

I won't let that bring us down and I certainly won't chuck in the towel.....it is time to get busy with a transfer window that is only two weeks away and try and bolster up the team and turn it around.

On Saturday I still believe we played some good football and it was our own undoing with some terrible mistakes at the back that made the score line look far worse then it really was.

At 1-1, Bendigo were awarded a penalty that should never have been awarded in a million years and it changed the game. Within two minutes we were 3-1 down and in the conditions it was always going to be a big ask chasing the game.

It is going to be tough for some weeks to come, but I built an empire on hard times and I will turn it around for the football club. TC.
